The Weekend Review

What a great Labor Day weekend!  We didn’t spend it barbequing in the park, but it was equally glutenous. The weekend started at both In-N- Out, AND Krispy Kreme.  Yes, we did actually go to them both, one after the other.

I do feel the need to explain that this is not, let me repeat NOT a regular occurrence for us. But since they are both in the same parking lot we figured that we would kill two birds with one stone, or perhaps more accurately, clog two hearts with one grease laden burger. But gosh was it good. Doesn’t it look good?

Then it was off to the deYoung art museum.  It just so happens that on certain days of the month you can get free entry to the museum just for showing them your Bank of America debit or credit card. We’d been to the museum before, but figured free entry was worth another tour. They actually do this for museums all over the US.  If you bank with B of A, here’s the link to the website so you can see what museums you can get into for free.

Want some giant glass fruit?

I like looking at paintbrush strokes up close. I wish I could paint!

And lastly, this is Tim’s semi staged response to wandering around The deYoung…

Then we were off to my favorite part of Saturday. Can you guess what it was?  Saturday was GAME DAY! Yep, the Ducks were playing Arkansas State. We went to a local bar where they have U of O alumni watch parties of the games and had a good time watching the green and yellow slaughter Arkansas State.  The score was  50-3 at the half, if that gives you any idea of what happened.  So really, it was just about drinking a lot of beer and eating salami sandwiches while watching the ducks have a practice session.

Sunday was pretty low key. After such a busy Saturday we didn’t do much more then sit at home and play video games and sleep.

We rounded out the long weekend with a trip down the coast through Pacific City and Half Moon Bay.  Naturally we had to bookend our glutenous weekend with a stop in Pacific City at Gorilla Barbeque.  This place has been on Diner’s Drive-In’s and Dives on the Food Network, and is well worth a stop if you’re ever in the area. They claim that “if we’re smokin’, we’re open,” and we’ve never been there when there wasn’t a crowd.

So that’s it!  How did you guys spend your Labor Day weekends?
